noun Syzygium malaccense is a species of flowering tree native to tropical parts of Asia; It has been introduced throughout the Caribbean. The trees produce pear shaped fruit with white flesh and skin ranging from light red to deep red or reddish purple. Typically, they contain a single large seed. However, they may occasionally be seedless or have multiple seeds. The fruit is sweet and is usually eaten raw or used to make drinks.

This is known as Pomerac in Trinidad and Tobago. The dark red ones are always the sweetest. So juicy. This tree always seems to attract woodpeckers in our yard.
