noun A trap for birds and other small game made using a flexible branch and a noose. A noose is attached to one end of the branch. The branch is then bent over until the noose end touches or is close to the ground. It is held in place with a trigger mechanism which is then baited. When prey trips the trigger mechanism, the tension on the branch is released and it whips up and tightens the noose around the legs or body of the prey.
