vodou

A religion that developed in Haiti in the 16th century. It formed as a blend of several African religious traditions (e.g. Vodun practiced in Ghana, Benin and Nigeria) and Roman Catholicism. It teaches the existence of a supreme creator god named Bondye, Gran Maître or Gran mati and spirits known as lwa.

Folk magic, sorcery, and religious practices derived from Central and West African origins. The practice is often associated with evil or black magic, but also used for luck, healing and love.
