noun The tree and fruit of Artocarpus heterophyllus. It is related to the breadfruit and breadnut. The tree produces the worlds largest tree borne fruit - up to 80lbs and 3 feet long. Much of the fruit is starchy and fibrous. However, the seeds are surrounded by a sweet, pleasant tasting flesh. The seeds themselves are also edible after roasting or boiling.

if its mulukia katahar in suriname then this is katahar in guyana.....form the picture then this is what they call Jack Fruit in America/Canada. katahar - An annoying vegetable/fruit, that Indians spending hours trying to separate the layers from the seed, to cook usually in a curry. why I dont know. I don't think its eaten as a fruit in the Caribbean unlike in Asia, because theres better to eat

Not sure if this is what we call pan de fruta or bread nut. I love the brown seeds cooked like European chestnuts with some bitter orange.

That person name dot is so stupid. Guyanese call this fruit cowa and jack fruit they eat the fruit and boil the seed and eat it too. Katahar is what they cook. Bread fruit is a another one too they fried it or boil and fry. I agree you are a real KATAHAR 😂🤣

every place called the same fruits different names no need to disrespect each other ..voming on social to disc each other will not change that ..and do not position yourself to offend others so they r incline to retaliate to your negative comments..We have different cultures ..we eat or don't eat different things or call them different names.Some people get offensive beause i do not eat pork..

Chataigne is the one that indians spend time to clean layer by layer, in Trinidad is called chataigne. It is similar to breadnut but it is not breadfruit, cause they all look the same. And the seeds you boil them and eat them. Enjoy the fruits! They are healthy and will give you lots of energy!
