In the Virgin Islands, this is a "mesple"...sorry if I spelled it wrong; I never saw it in print.
This is such a delicious fruit.

Yes, we also call this fruit mammee. Could not remember if the name include "apple". It is said that one should not consume any alcohol after eating this fruit because it can lead to death. Not so sure if anyone proved that to be wrong by doing so.
My favorite fruit. Tried one on Barbados, St James Beach at the Shelter.
Mammee apple again a favourite
Mammy apple
Mammee ceepote (not sure of the spelling)

Marmee apple and mansie port
Marmee apple and mansie port as known
One of my favorites. They smell wonderful and taste like a firm, but slightly green apricot. Yummy and tart.
It's the first time I'm seeing or taste. How do you know when it's ripe and ready?
Its
My favorite fruit as a child in 🇭🇹. Wish i could find it in South Florida 😩
Love this fruit. We call it (mawmi) “the mommy fruit”. Each bite taste like a different fruit.

I just had one, tastee and nice, was just researching the benefits and saw this, so I commented, we called it growing up, mam pe, because one would full your tummy
the tree itself is referred as the"Yellow berry that looks old from the outside because of its brown and rough skin
We call it Marmee Apple in Montserrat or Manciport
WONDERFULLY TASTY, BUT HAS TO BE FULL RIPE.. SOME PEOPLE IN THE CARIBBEAN PICK IT UNRIPE, ENCOUNTER AN AWFUL TEXTURE AND TASTE, THEN DEEM IT NO GOOD. WHEN FULLY RIPE, IT IS DELICIOUS... BUT IN GUYANA THE WARNING ALWAYS IS DO NOT USE ALCOHOL AFTER EATING MAMEE APPLE BECAUSE THE COMBINATION IS CONSIDERED POISONOUS. I NEVER PUT THAT TO THE TEST.
I’m from St.Croix USVI and This is NOT a mesple. This is a different fruit, our mesple have at least a couple of black seeds in it.
Not sure why it’s putting BVI flag 🇹🇨instead of USVI flag 🇻🇮. We r not the same
The mammee tree is also known in Suriname. The tree can grow very tall. The fruits grow on the trunk and on the branches. The fruits must be well ripe for the good taste.

What they call this fruit
Maumee Apple one of the sweetest fruits. Can it be grown from a seed?
Always heard about them but never had one until today. Hard, crunchy and delicious. Idk if it was as ripe as it should be though. If I can find another one then I'll keep it a bit longer and see how it goes. Mine had three or four big seeds.
In Nevis, we call them Mammy apple or manseport which someone told me means "mammy support" as they were a good source of nutrition when people often didn't have much to eat. In recent years, a disease sadly seems to have wiped out most of the trees on the island, they used to be very plentiful. A big effort to bring them back is needed.
Abricot-pays
In Antigua we call it mamee support/apple. Best eaten when ripe with crunchy texture. If you leave it longer it will not have that crunch and it will taste as if it's spoiled. 🇦🇬
