In Venezuela, we called it "Plagatox". That was a brand name. I hated it: My father awaked me to light a Plagatox because the mosquitos were eating me alive. I was half asleep and put it over a glass of mayonnaise. In the night, as it was burning, it fell down over my feet cloth. I remember I was dreaming of a spicy soup... Suddenly, my brother shouted: Hey! Wake up! What's that all smoke?!!!!

The good old days, fond memories of my father burning them to fight off mosquitoes. Totally works. We called it cocker:) no idea why. As an adult now living abroad I realized the name has no correlation to the look or what it’s purpose was:-) but great memories nonetheless. Much better than the toxic stuff nowadays..

Always called mosquito coils a cock set in Far North Queensland, but never met anyone who could say why.
