I've grown up saying maclala too. But we use that to refer to the brown lizards that bob up and down, and elongate that red flap of skin under their chin. ~courtesy of the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua

I grew up calling lizards, macala. 🇧🇿 I never heard it called maclala.
