I always thought it was called Portugals. There are a lot of things growing up you never really know how it was spelt, you just went with it...lol
its also called Clementine
believe me its portugal. everything on the net is not correct
I agree spelling should be verified before posting
Yes it is puttygal. The official spelling might be different but it is pronounced Puttie -Gal.
it is spelt this way because Trinidadians pronounce it like that. we know the correct spelling.
Try searching Portugal without specifying fruit and see what you get, found exactly what I was looking for with our spelling and pronunciation.(well done Kerwyn, and Joseph).
Definitely...Puttygal...may sound like puttygyal...lol...TNT🇹🇹
Definitely putti gal n not Portugal.. it is patois - broken french. Something to do with sharing .
Ha ha I always pronounced it poochi-gal. I guess I was close to hearing it correctly from my elders lol.
I’m Canadian. I had to ask my Trini mother in law if that’s what she trained her parrot to say to her. “Pretty-gyal, pretty-gyal”
